#4. Ivy League Schools are Beckoning to Nontraditional Students - this was surprising to me to find out. These are wonderful schools. Now, students can take advantage of the great classes even if they don't live in the area sometimes.
#5. Nontraditional Students in the Dorm - Really?? - I was surprised to find out that YES, some older students are taking advantage of this option. And with the new room choices, this can be a viable option.

Through her mother's eyes...
This story is so cute – a mother and her daughter are going to college at the same time – and at the same place! The daughter was not so sure she would like this at first. Then she started liking it! She says in the article that they even study together sometimes!

I glanced down at the other links at the Shawnee Community College page, and I noticed that they have a link to their cafeteria menu. That brought back memories. When I first attended WKU (as a TRADITIONAL student), we had a cafeteria too.

Discrimination? You decide.
I read a story about an older college student recently on the Yahoo Nontrad Group. He is going back to college to be a physical therapy assistant. Seems he was told he can't stay in the dormitory on campus at Louisiana College because he is too much older than the other students. He is 52.
Say what?? I am (cough, cough) close to that age too!
This sounds like discrimination to me. I sure hope that the school changes their mind soon. Or maybe it is just a misunderstanding.
I am going to see if he posts in the next week or so, then I think I should put this online again and see if anyone there or online can help.
I personally know of at least three or four other students who are older AND staying in college dorms. It's simply easier for them. AND they learned how to get along with the other students too.
So keep reading here - - I plan to keep everyone informed on how this is going for SURE.

Find a great online college or university
I looked online tonight for a website that showed online colleges and universities and ranked them, too.
I found some pay websites with hardly any research, that gave their own opinions. I'm still looking for a really great one.
But I did find a website I liked. It's called College Scholarships, Colleges, and Online Degrees. You can look up different degrees and programs. Also, the website author describes the schools and what makes them each unique.
Check it out here:
College Scholarships, Colleges and Online Degrees.
I will put it on the Nontraditional Student Yahoo Group on the "links" page also tonight.
